Investigation and Findings
On October 19, 2025, a social media profile named ⓉⓃ @tesfanews, with over 40,000 followers published a message claiming that visuals depicting Ethiopia’s elite military unit were digitally fabricated using artificial intelligence (See screenshot below).

MFC examined the image using reverse image search tools. The photo matched a verified post by Fana Media Corporation dated October 17, 2025. The post stated: “The Special Operations Command Training Center is completing the training of a reliable commando force.” (See screenshot below).

Fana Media Corporation, established in 1994, is a source for Ethiopian news. It operates across television, radio, and digital platforms. The image shared on the X account post aligns with visuals from the graduation ceremony held at the Blatte Commando and Airborne Training Center. No signs of AI manipulation were found.
The claim that Ethiopia used AI-generated propaganda lacks evidence. The image reflects a real event and honors the completion of elite military training.
Conclusion
Truth, when distorted, can fracture public trust. In this case, the accusation that Ethiopia’s military imagery was AI-generated collapses under scrutiny. The photo in question captures a genuine moment—the graduation of a commando unit trained for precision, resilience, and national defense.
In a region shaped by conflict and reform, the Ethiopian National Defense Force continues to invest in elite training. The Special Operations Command Training Center recently graduated its 44th Commando cohort. These forces undergo rigorous preparation in urban warfare, reconnaissance, and counter-terrorism. Their emergence signals Ethiopia’s commitment to building a modern, capable military, one grounded in discipline, not digital illusion.
Disinformation often finds fertile ground in uncertainty, where speculation overshadows substance and perception distorts reality. In contrast, verified facts act as a compass—cutting through confusion and restoring clarity to public discourse. This investigation underscores the enduring strength of evidence as a safeguard against falsehoods and manipulation. In light of the findings, MultiFact Check (MFC) has rated that the claim in question is false.
