Who we are

MultiFactCheck (MFC) is an independent fact-checking organization which is launched to pin-point, track-down, scrutinize, investigate, interrogate, publish and distribute the factual accuracy of claims made by public figures. MFC’s project has geographical priorities. Our work mainly focuses on nations in the Horn of Africa and their diaspora community who reside abroad. We operates from various regions of Africa, Europe and North America. Through a multitude of professional proficiency, MFC deploys best practices of journalism, scholarship and expertise in order to flag, investigate and publish a fact.

What We Believe

Opinion is not a fact. Even though we acknowledge the philosophical differences between fact and truth we believe that facts are objective, verifiable, and scientific.

We understand that, as the current global information flow system continues to become highly decentralized and distributed horizontally, there is a growing confusion between opinions, lies, claims, facts, which is ultimately devaluing the value of informational platforms.

Politicians, business leaders, individuals, military commanders, activists and other influential groups hold and propagate particular political views. In the process of advancing their political or economic interests through their views and opinions, they often commit the act of diverting from the truth in a way that adversely affects society.

Despite the growing trend in fact-checking industries around the world, there are few organizations independently operating or establishing within their own mainstream media organizations to monitor the accuracy of statements made by public officials and other influential individuals.

What we do

Our focus at MultiFactCheck is to undertake an extensive, scientific, reasonable and responsible research in order to fact check (a) statements (texts and audiovisual) of politicians, activists, and influential people in social, religious, scientific and other communities of knowledge (b) documents (texts, pictures, graphics, etc.) that comes out of governmental and non-governmental institutions that are either un-true, unproven, or misleading claims (and could be also a combination of all those claims) shared on both mainstream and social media platforms. We do this by referring to ORIGINAL SOURCES. With this, we aim to inform the public so that they make an informed decision.

In addition to fact-checking missions, MultiFactCheck also operates a Data Bank which records and documents the names and career paths of political figures, protagonists and prominent elites and individuals in political, economic, military and social industries.

We believe that the society deserves to know the full factual background of any figures whose actions are of national or international relevance to the society.
