Kirubel Tesfaye is a seasoned fact-checker and social media monitoring specialist with over four years of experience in fact-checking, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and digital rights. His expertise lies in identifying and analyzing disinformation trends, verifying digital content, and promoting media integrity across online platforms.
Prior to joining MFC, Kirubel led a pioneering fact-checking initiative in Ethiopia. In this role, he trained journalists and media professionals in the principles of fact-checking, digital verification techniques, and journalist safety. His leadership helped build local capacity for combating misinformation and fostering responsible journalism.
Kirubel’s contributions to the field extend beyond daily fact-checking. He has authored numerous investigative articles, produced monthly and annual reports on disinformation trends, and co-developed a Fact-Checker’s Toolkit in collaboration with partner organizations.
