Habtamu Tegegn was appointed Minister of Mines and Petroleum in January 2023, responsible for guiding Ethiopia’s mining and petroleum industries and managing national natural resources.
Habetamu holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural Engineering. Before his ministerial appointment, Habtamu served as Director‑General of the Ethiopian Roads Authority from August 2016 to January 2023, where he oversaw national road construction, infrastructure development, and engineering management projects.
As Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Habtamu focuses on mineral and petroleum resource management, sustainable industry development, regulatory oversight, and promoting investment in the extractive sector to advance Ethiopia’s economic growth.
