Minister of Urban and Infrastructure Development, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

Chaltu Sani Ibrahim was appointed Minister of Urban and Infrastructure Development on 6 October 2021, replacing Aisha Mohammed, and is responsible for urban planning, infrastructure development, and public works projects nationwide.

Chaltu holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management from Addis Ababa University, completed around February 2015. Her thesis focused on assessing school improvement program implementation in secondary schools of West Hararghe Administrative Zone.

Her career spans regional administration and economic management. She served as Head of Oromia Revenues Authority in 2018, then as Deputy Chief Administrator and Economic Cluster Coordinator in 2019, before being appointed Chief Administrator and Economic Cluster Coordinator with the rank of Deputy Chief Administrator on 30 November 2019.

As Minister of Urban and Infrastructure Development, Chaltu focuses on urban planning, infrastructure modernization, public construction projects, and sustainable development, advancing Ethiopia’s urbanization and economic infrastructure agenda.
