Demelash Gebremichael (b. in Ethiopia) was appointed Commissioner General of the Ethiopian Federal Police on 8 November 2020, leading the federal police force and overseeing national law enforcement operations.

His career in public service spans intelligence and policing. Before his current role, Demelash served as Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) from June 2019 to November 2020, where he was responsible for national intelligence, security operations, and regional cooperation. Prior to that, he held senior positions within law enforcement and public security institutions, building experience in national policing and strategic security management.

As Commissioner General, Demelash focuses on police modernization, strengthening national security, institutional reforms, and international cooperation. Under his leadership, the Federal Police has enhanced its capacity to address public safety, combat transnational crime, and engage in regional and global partnerships for law enforcement and security initiatives.
