Yilkal Kefale is the President of Amhara Regional State. He was appointed to the position by the regional state council on September 30, 2021. 

Yilkal has MA and PhD in Social Anthropology.

Prior to his current position, he was the Head of the Education Bureau of Amhara Regional State. He had also been the faculty member of Gondar and Debre Markos Teachers’ College. He had also served as the Vice-president and later President of Debre Markos University.
