Takele Uma is the Minister for Mines since October 2021. He was the Minister for Mines and Petroleum August 2020 – October 2021. He was also the Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa City from July 2018- August 2020.

Takele has a BSc and MSC in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Addis Ababa University.

Takele, while in Oromia Regional State, was the Mayor of Sululta Town from 1999-2000; Mayor of Holeta from 2001-2002; General Manager of Oromia Urban Land Sectors from 2004 – 2007 and Head of the Oromia Transport Bureau from 2008 – 2009.
