Omer Hussen is the Minister of Agriculture since October 2021. He held the same position since first appointed in October 2019. Omer was the Director General of Ethiopian Revenues & Customs Authority with the rank of Minister from April 2018-2019.

Before assuming position at federal level, Omer has served as the Head of Arsi Zone Finance and Revenues Bureau, Head of Oromia Finance and Economic Development Bureau, Head of Oromia Urban Development Bureau, and later Deputy Chief Administrator of Oromia Regional State.
