Mustafa Mohammed is the President of the Somali Regional State since October 2021. He held the position of the chief executive of the Regional State as Deputy President since August 2018. 

Mustafa has BA degree in Economics from Addis Ababa University. He has also an MA in Agricultural Economics from the Imperial College of London.

Mustafa returned back to Ethiopia from exile following the 2018 political change. Before he fled the the country, he has worked as the Deputy Head of Somali Region Education Bureau. He has also worked for different UN agencies in Addis Ababa and other African countries.
