Melaku Alebel is the Minister of Industry since October 2021. He was previously the Minister of Trade and Industry from January 2020- October 2021. He also served as the Head of Industry and Investment Bureau of the Amhara Regional state before appointed to the ministerial position.

Melaku has a BSc in Natural Resources Management and MSc in Agroforestry & Soil Management from the University of Gondar and Hawassa University, respectively.
