Filsan Abdullahi was the Minister of Women, Children and Youth from March 2020-September 2021. She resigned from her position in September 2021. In December 2021, she stated to The Washington Post that she had resigned in relation to Ethiopia government’s handling of the Tigray War.
Filsan has BA in Leadership and Management from Unity University. She has also a second degree in Communications Science and Disorder from the University of Hertfordshire, UK.
Filsan, who was based in UK, returned to Ethiopia following the 2018 political change and founded the Nabad Project and Nabad TV, a satellite television station, aimed at promoting peace and dialogue within the various Somali groups as well as between the Somali and other people. She has been actively participating in a youth volunteer project launched by PM Abiy Ahmed.
