Berhanu Nega is the Minister of Education since October 2021.

Berhanu received BA in Economics from the State University of New York at New and his PhD in Economics from the New School of Social Research in New York City. 

Berhanu is currently the leader of the Ethiopia Citizens for Social Justice Party (Ezema). He was also a founding chairman of the Rainbow Ethiopia: Movement for Democracy and Social Justice and a Deputy Chairman of Coalition for Unity and Democracy (CUD). He was also the co-founder and leader of Ginbot 7.
