Abraham Belay is the Minster of Defense since October 2021. He was appointed by the federal government the Chief Executive Officer of the Interim Administration of Tigray Regional State from May – June 2021.

Abraham Belay has a PhD in Business Administration? and a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Abraham was the Minister of Innovation and Technology from February 2020 – May 2021. He has been Chief Executive Officer of the Ethiopian Electric Power from August 2018 -2020. Abraham has also been a Member of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE’s) Board of Directors since December 2018. Prior to that, has served as the Deputy Director of the Information Network Security Agency (INSA).
