Zewdu Belay is the Commander of the Central Command of Ethiopia’s National Defense Force (ENDF). He was promoted to Lei. Gen. in January 2022.

Prior to his current position, Zewdu was the Commander of the Eastern Command of Ethiopia’s National Defense Force (ENDF) with the rank of Maj. Gen. He was promoted to the rank of Maj. Gen. in February 2018 by the former President of Ethiopia, Mulatu Teshome. In 2013, as Brig. General, he led a delegation to South Sudan to sign agreement that was aimed at ensuring peace and security between the two countries border.
