Fitsum Assefa is the Minister of Planning and Development Commission since October 2021. She has held same position from October 2018-October 2021.

Fitusm has a BA in Accounting and an MA in Development Studies from Addis Ababa University. She has a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Giessen, Germany.

Fitsum was the faculty member of the College of Business and Economics at Hawassa University. She is also a member of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia’s Board of Directors since December 2018.
