Shimelis Abdisa is the President of Oromia Region since April 2019. He was re-appointed to the position by the Region Council in September 2021.
Shimelis has a BA degree in Philosophy, and MA degree in Human Rights from Addis Ababa University.
Shimelis was Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister from November 2018- April 2019. Prior to that he was the Head of the Oromia Construction Bureau and had also served as Deputy Head of the Oromia Urban Development and Housing Bureau.
